9.5 million people living in the UK were born abroad. We don’t know enough about your health and wellbeing. We don’t know enough about your experiences with the NHS.
We @UCL want to change that.
How does it work:
The UCL Health on the Move (HOME) App Study is an app-based study. You download the app on your mobile phone or tablet. Each time we want you to complete a survey you will be sent a notification to open the HOME app. Via these regular surveys in the app, our study will collect information on a wide range of topics that can affect your health and wellbeing, including mental health, living conditions, access to health services, physical activity, nutrition, employment and sexual and reproductive health and your experience of your care from your GP or healthcare provider.
What is the time Commitment?
We kindly ask you to participate for a period of 3 months. You will get a survey either once or twice a week. They are designed to take you between 1 minute and 5 minutes to complete. We know your time is valuable. That’s why the HOME app has two types of surveys — one short and one longer.
In the short survey, sent either once a week or every three days, you will be asked about your health in the last week. If you have been feeling well, this will take less than 15 seconds to complete. If you have not been well, it will take about 1 min to complete.
In the longer surveys, sent once a week, you will be asked about a wider range of health and non-health related questions. These surveys are designed to take less than 5 minutes to complete.
How will you use my data and the results from the study?
Your data will be used for academic research by UCL. Once published, we will work with policymakers in health to make decisions that better reflect the health needs of the migrant community, of which you are a key part.
Will my privacy be protected?
We take our obligation to protect your privacy very seriously. All of your information will be kept on highly secure systems. The information you provide will be kept strictly confidential throughout and after the research. It will not be possible to identify you from any of the publications or reports that are based on the study. You can read more about this here:
