Our pilot of the HOME App is progressing at a rapid pace.
We’ve listened very carefully to your feedback and we’ve been busy analysing the data you’ve helped us collect.
We have now successfully recruited 643 participants for the study from 67 countries around the globe – this is a really substantial milestone for the project!
You have told us where to adapt some of the surveys to better reflect the health needs of the migrant population. You have helped us fix a few bugs in the app too. Some of these fixes have already been implemented in the App and others will be added in the next phase our work.
In this first part of the project we tested out several features within the HOME App to work out what features of the App worked best.
Our analyses of the data found that improved questionnaire completion rates was achieved when the HOME App was set up to use twice weekly short health questionnaires, notifications sent out at 21.00, reminders sent one day after an initial notification and shorter text notifications and reminders were better than longer text versions.
These results are important as they mean that we’ve improved the App to give us better quality data as follow up all participants over the coming weeks.
HOME App users have now completed over 3,000 short weekly health questionnaires and 1,700 detailed demographic, health, and wider social determinants of health questionnaires including data on employment, education and social cohesion.
We’ll report more on these findings over the coming weeks once we’ve collected enough data.
Thanks to your contributions to our study, the HOME App has produced evidence on the health and wellbeing of the UK migrant population.
